Hi Sharad I agree that it was off-topic and it should have been marked as such...My apologies for that...Was it advertising? Yes, it definitely was...But it was extremely relevant advertising and was not meant to give "meaning" to anything!!!...Please dont try to decide what the group wants or not..I think people are smart enough to figure that our for themselves...If you dont like something, ignore it...
The reason I sent it on the IITD LUG list is because I am sure a lot of students from IITD (Linux enthusiasts included) are interested in understanding how a business environment actually works...Mind you, Linux is not just a technical software and an LUG is not a place where you discuss only technical issues regarding Linux One other thing...Nowhere did the mail say "We want participation from the GROUP"..we want participation from individuals who want to understand a business environment... If you or anyone thinks that Linux is too far removed from a business environment, you clearly dont understand a lot of things...Let me remind you about Fedora being split off from Redhat as a business decision or the fact that all marketing that is done for Linux (Fedora, SuSE, Ubuntu etc) are business decisions and extremely competitive ones at that... With Warm Regards Ayush Gupta P.S. If you want to discuss this further, feel free to mail me directly..This is now a discussion between two individuals, not an entire mailing group...I am not going to respond to any further mails about this topic on this group P.S. I am sure you laugh a lot while watching television, given how much you find advertising funny!!! :) On Thu, Feb 26, 2009 at 11:15 PM, Sharad Birmiwal <[email protected]>wrote: > On Thu, Feb 26, 2009 at 12:24 PM, Ayush Gupta <[email protected]> > wrote: > > Hi Sharad > > > > I think what you wrote was meant to be personal...A lot of people work > hard > > to help others at different stages of entrepreneurship..What you wrote on > a > > public forum criticized them without knowing all the facts! > > > > As for funding, we don't fund ventures...We only facilitate funding..We > > connect people to VCs, PEs etc and they fund the ventures..More than > > funding, the most important contribution is guidance in helping people > setup > > their business. > > Why did you post it on a linux user's group mailing list which is > meant as a support group and popularizing Linux?
