We are starting off afresh at our temporary campus at Ropar near Chandigarh. I am a big fan of open source and would like to make it a habit at our campus rather than an exception. Since we are starting afresh, there wouldn't be a big learning curve switching to open source technologies. Its better to inculcate good habits now rather than try to change from bad to good ones later. I have already built a site for IIT Punjab using Drupal located at www.iitpunjab.co.cc. I am also thinking of setting up an internal site for discussion and polling on various topics and also maybe for conducting elections. Ill also insist on debian/ubuntu on lab computers wherever possible and also an internal repo. Any other suggestions?
