>From past experience, I can tell you that you should connect the
projector ONLY after X is running. I have had issues where if I
connected it sooner (in text mode), the projector for some reason
wouldn't sync with X (I'd had to restart the projector before I could
get it to work).

Also, once connected, don't forget to press the Func+whatever key
combo to enable output on CRT out of your laptop. For most graphics
card for a long time now, the default behaviour for dual head display
is cloning the output. When you press this key combo,

You don't need to modify xorg.conf (btw, most other parameters are
detected on the fly by the X server). If you still want to see more
options though, use some tool like xorgcfg (or xorgconfig?).
