Ok. If you statically configure your system IP address to something
like 192.168.1.2, and connect to the Modem, can you try to login to
the (default) web interface, and check if the modem is connected to
your ISP?

Also check if the ADSL->Internet LED is blinking or not.

You can install hplip, hpijs, hplip-libs, and foomatic packages with
yum. If you are using Gnome, you can add a new printer, from
System->Administration->Printing, and follow the wizard-like menu
interface to add your printer.
