Desist using scilab versions earlier than 5.x since they are non-free. They were released under a licence which prohibited commercial distribution of modified versions of Scilab. A truely free software should not stop its use by anyone. Hence use Scilab 5.x only since the newer licence is a free licence with the above referred clause deleted.
