A domain expert can still be a newbie in another field. A (technical) architect, is an exception. Newbies are as important as experts, and it is best to have people from different backgrounds, experiences together in an event, as a means to bring people together to share knowledge, which ought to be the prime objective. So, it is best not to think in terms of hierarchy or levels (as that doesn't exist in a community), but, it is best to simply state and accept that workshops/sessions are targeted for different audiences. I really appreciate the enthusiasm of students in this group, and it is always a pleasure to hear your side of the story.
