thats really better. I forgot to ask Alok if he uses https option in gmail. In fact, I took https for granted in Alok's preferences. Surely this was done either in IIT LAN or at gmail server cluster. IIT LAN must be using VLAN for computer center/hostel traffic.I cant assume that your squid box was compromised, but it is still a possibility. I got domain names of a number of yahoo mail servers( having some alphanumric numbering) in one of the cyber cafes at Meerut. If Denial of Service attack may be used somehow, the server security breach may provide some moments of deregulation at the databases. Its best to use AES in https combinations of public and private pairs. I did n't find any place where gmail may ask my cipher preferences.
