It's possible that they are trying to find the version of IE instead, but failing (because its not IE). My experience is that there are tow kinds of browsers, IE (which does not follow any standards and ignore the compatibility problem still stupidly trying to create a lock on) and every other browser. So if you write a code in javascript, it either work in IE or in everything else. Since management normally feels proud to be able to work without knowledge of any details ( so that management becomes portable or platform independent), they take to any 'shit' marketing agent makes them eat. That's how IE wins.
Any one can read about ajax code, and find out that its something for IE( actually there many versions for all versions of IE), and the other that works in every other browser. I have personally felt ( and got from many of my friends who would not still care about FOSS) that even on windows, firefox is a much better browser than IE even if I only consider technical excellence and ease of use. -- Debasish Ray Chawdhuri -- l...@iitd - http://tinyurl.com/ycueutm
