senior only in age - not in wisdom ;-). one point I think there is a lot
of confusion about is in the meaning of 'talk is cheap, show me the

as you can see, this is a discussion between two kernel programmers
about the most efficient way of doing something. In this case linus
evokes something called 'proof of concept' which is very common in every
field of endeavour. At times it is not possible to decide which approach
is right without actually building a model and testing it. Any engineer
could understand this. Note, linus is talking to a fellow kernel
programmer. He is NOT telling him to act and not talk. He is NOT telling
him that code writers are gods and everyone else is useless. He is just
saying that in this particular case the argument cannot be resolved
without actually coding it.
