I bought Airtel 3G Modem (Huawai E173) and using it with Ubuntu 8.10
and 9.04.

Thought the box said that it supports MAC and WINDOWS, the 3G stick
had program for Linux Installer and it worked after some hit and
trial.

I also wish to share my experience at Airtel Noida 18. The staff had a
list that says that their USB 3G modem works well with Lenova,
Toshiba, HCL, DELL and most of computers available in India. As linux
was not listed there, he called his seniors and declared that their
device will not work with Linux. I still went ahead and bought it.
