I was unable to set using nm-applet.. icon was missing from panel.. (that
icon got some AI and got power to disappear at his own will :P )

No, Actually I did a sock's proxy tunnel. desktop was unable to resolve the
ip of a website address. I set resolv.conf and this started working. many
time when i run some virtual machine, then also resolv.conf get ip of main
machine.

how ever, I try to configure it as NAT..
