I agree; you have to find what works for you. Certainly if you have to work on other keyboards then my suggestion might not work for you. My reasoning is that when you look at the keyboard, you eliminate brain completely from the process. Thus, learning should be quicker as you only program your fingers every time you hit a key (that is what eventually should take place). If one can touch-type with the us layout, he/she can develop the same skill on dvorak naturally. Anyways, that's just my opinion.
