I agree. It's nice to be able to use your editor out of the box and without having to do any special customization. You will however have to teach your editor (or it will have to learn) about ".sls" anyways, and I doubt it would take more than a few minutes to do so. (and if you're using emacs, you probably already spent ungodly number of hours hacking your .emacs file; I know I did, before dumping emacs. :-))

I have been using ".ss" as the scheme extension for years, so, I do have a strong preference to keeping it, and it would take me some time to adjust to the output of "ls". But I also know that my personal preferences and habits develop and change constantly over time. I consider this a very minor change compared to other changes that I did go through, like changing development style from batch to interactive to batch, and changing editors from vim to emacs to vim, and moving from Debian to Mac OS.

Anyways, we don't have to make the change now. Maybe we can do it in a month or so after we're all well adjusted. :-)
