>> Is there a problem at Avon or is the problem farther east and backed

>Avon has been perpetually plugged since sometime in August.

>From what I've been told the problem started when CSX changed the way trains
are blocked.
When CR ran the show they had things set up so the western roads would
pre-block the trains prior to interchange. Then they would then stop and due
the block swap thing en-route, i.e. Greencastle. This would bypass Avon
altogether. Was told there was an train EB recently that was stopped at AN
while the yardmaster tried to figure out what goes where. The train crew
finally piped up told the YM "the whole train is supposed to go to
Baltimore. Does that help?" Straight up the main they went.
Of course these blocking agreements were CR's not NS or CSX's. So CSX has to
put the 10 gallons of water in the 8 gallon bucket to quote a certain SB
disp.
It all boils down to the same problems NS is experiencing in many places. CR
cut back so much there is no room for expansion. Avon was virtually toast a
year ago. Now it's suddenly swamped.
