I think he means the problem comes up with POP3 mail and is absent when we use IMAP. I'm not sure any developer uses POP3, which is not good! When I have a moment I might set up a test account to play around with. >> i can not change any of the colour values in appearance - is this an IE >> issue? > >i think this can be blocked from conf file. Do you try this >functionality with demo or your own instalation? The default install locks down most of the colour codes. However, despite the warning at the top of the page, it does look a little confusing when the colour values are printed out plain. One solution would be to add a string to the i18n files so it shows, e.g., "Background: #222244 (cannot be set)" or something similar. Another would be to use a little CSS to strikethrough the line, to make it clear that you shouldn't be able to select the text and write something new. >> the layout is quite bad in preferences - it is possible to organise the >> table so that the cells are evenly spread (eg. there is a lot more on >> left) > >agree. I think that preferences can be reworked for better using... I agree too. It's horrible to navigate through it with Links..! >> i dont notice any difference when a message is flagged as important. > >important message have different background for whole line and also >red ! is displayed at start of line That's true, but AFAIK you only get read/unread status for each message with POP3. With IMAP you get the whole caboodle of tags and flags. If it's true that you can't mark a message important then clearly the link should be removed. >> while reading a message i dont think the unread option should be there - >> it is difficult to understand what it means. that should be done from >> inbox with selecting and marking. generally best to only have one way of >> doing things. >agree. I don't agree. I find that link is very useful when I don't have time to read a message in full. One click and it's done, rather than four clicks minimum for the other method. I will concede that it could be labelled more unabiguously - "mark unread", for example. However, I strongly disagree that there should be only one way of doing things: people have different ways of working and you can either accept that or build a UI that forces people to work in the way you prescribe. The user should have control of the program, not the other way around. >> will the whitelist option in prefs be possible to hide with conf.php? >i think this can be easily done >> i think thats all. im really grateful for ilohamail and i hope these >> comments can be productive. i might be able to help implementing some of >> them - like the layout for prefs. let me know. > >yes, You can. Try it and send to devel list... I believe the whitelist portion is a plugin, and by definition you should be able to "unplug" fairly easily. ;-) Cheers Andy ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the JBoss Inc.
