I think he means the problem comes up with POP3 mail and is absent when
we use IMAP. I'm not sure any developer uses POP3, which is not good!
When I have a moment I might set up a test account to play around with.

The default install locks down most of the colour codes. However, despite
the warning at the top of the page, it does look a little confusing when
the colour values are printed out plain. One solution would be to add a
string to the i18n files so it shows, e.g., "Background: #222244
(cannot be set)" or something similar. Another would be to use a little
CSS to strikethrough the line, to make it clear that you shouldn't be
able to select the text and write something new.

I agree too. It's horrible to navigate through it with Links..!

That's true, but AFAIK you only get read/unread status for each message
with POP3. With IMAP you get the whole caboodle of tags and flags. If
it's true that you can't mark a message important then clearly the
link should be removed.

I don't agree. I find that link is very useful when I don't have time
to read a message in full. One click and it's done, rather than four
clicks minimum for the other method. I will concede that it could be
labelled more unabiguously - "mark unread", for example. However, I
strongly disagree that there should be only one way of doing things:
people have different ways of working and you can either accept that or
build a UI that forces people to work in the way you prescribe. The user
should have control of the program, not the other way around.

I believe the whitelist portion is a plugin, and by definition you should
be able to "unplug" fairly easily. ;-)
