As far as I know, there is a setting in conf.php that will allow to
disable using file modification time and make IlohaMail parse the header
information instead.

The variable is called

$IMAP_USE_HEADER_DATE

and must be set to true if you want to use header dates.

Note that I use the latest snapshot, so I do not know if it is available
in the older version?
