Hi friends,

I almost hate myself when I have to say something like this. This mail is
not meant solely to Inigo because he posted this, but let this be a
reminder for all of us as to where we should draw the line. <Putting on my
moderator's cap> I understand that this was meant to tickle our funny
bones. I know that many of us like to take pot shots at M$ or Gates for
that matter...as a matter of fact, Amlan took a shot yesterday and I
cheered him on for that...but to attack Gates as a person (and not for what
he stands for...ie monopolistic stranglehold and marketing of half-baked
technologies) can not and shall not be our agenda. Using a baby to ridicule
the father is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE on this list. <Putting off the
moderator's cap>

<Preach>
As Linux users, each of us are acting as ambassadors of our favourite OS.
Advocating Linux is one of our main unspoken responsibilities. Therefore,
how we say certain things and what we say, matters greatly. Too much of
Microsoft-bashing will not hurt M$, rather it may turn off new users from
using Linux. Bad advocacy is worse than no advocacy. If you want to take a
look at some really bad advocacy I suggest you check out
http://www.mindcraft.com/linux-net-rage.html . The users who did this are a
shame. They harm Linux more than they help. I know that all of us on this
list are grown-up responsible people, let us keep it that way and do some
good old-fashioned Linux advocacy.

Cheers,.
Indra.

 Microsoft ship's on time
-------------------------------------------------------------------

For the first time in, oh, a decade, I think, something from Microsoft
shipped on time: Rory John Gates , weighed 8 pounds 12 ounces when he
was downloaded, er, born on Sunday, May 23 at 2:40 p.m. And what do Baby
Gates and Daddy's products have in common?
