here are some scripts i use to access my vsnl student account to
retrieve, send and delete mail. it can do everything that eudora does and
more. tell me if u have any problems using them. they were written by
viral ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). also since i'm not a member of the
ilug-cal list, please send all mails regarding this directly to me.

OK, here they are. just read the instructions carefully.
1) save the attachment shmail.tar.gz in your home directoy.
2) tar -xzf shmail.tar.gz
3) edit shmailrc file as required and rename it .shmailrc
4) now connect to the net using minicom, and at the menu, give option 0 to
go to the shell prompt.
5) exit minicom without resetting the modem (alt-q or ctrl-a-q). then at
your machine's prompt, issue the commands 'send-mail'(for sending mail
which you had already written earlier in pine), 'retr-mail'(to
retrieve mail from your pop account), and 'dele-mail'(to delete mail
from your pop account). u can write a simple shell script which
contains all the three commands so that u will have to type only a
single command.
6) since you are still connected, just giving the command 'minicom -o -m
-c on' will take you back to the shell prompt of the student account.
7) last, and the most important part, write a thank you email to viral at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] for writing such great scripts.
here's how i check my mail - i have a loginscript which gives my
username and password at the respective prompts. i then go to the shell
prompt exit without resetting and give the command ./xmail which is the
shell script which i wrote to check my accounts at flashmail, mailandnews,
and of course at my student account one by one and at the end it brings me
back at the shell prompt.
tell me if u have any problems. u can use only pine for writing the
messages. also note that these scripts were made primarily for giasbma
server - so although it works for flashmail and mailandnews also, no
guarantees for other servers. and it doesn't work if u are connected using
tcp/ip.
