Indranil,
I fully agree with the points you've raised. But the question is,it's not
my machine and I've been asked to try and install Linux on it.So is there
any way around the QuickRestore CD or am I going to have to install
Win9x,drivers etc individually.
Last night Dwaipayan was telling me something about loading Linux under
Win.I assumed he was talking about the UMSDOS type system.Personally I
think that for Linux to live under Windows is an *insult*.But again,it's
not my machine.AFAIK, RedHat doesn't support this type of install. He says
that it's possible under RedHat 6.0 - have you heard about this?

Until this incident I had never had any personal problems with brand names
including MS.My machine is an assembled and I run the initial version of
Win95 - so I still have control.Yes,I've been opposed to MS on the grounds
of philosophy (bad code, domineering,'take what is given' attitude). But now
after having been rudely told by a piece of 'code' (if I can call it
that!) that my HDD is not mine I can really *feel* the need to support
OSS.Rest assured,I can now really feel why people would like to burn down
MS and their ilk and the OSS movement has my full support in any way I can
give it.

PS: Has PC'ness reached our place as well?? ;)

Bye,
Rajarshi
