Hi folks,
Yesterday Arup & I had been kidding some folks about how it used to be
*dangerous* during the early days of XFree86 while playing with the sync
rates of your moniter...
Now, some time after midnight, I got this urge to play with the sync rates
of my 1.5 year old color moniter (TVM AS4D). It was working nicely with RHL
5.2 (kernel 2.3.12), XFree86 3.3.3.1....but I felt I could do better still,
so I sat till I managed to push up the rates & got a real nice & stable
display at 1024x768 which was mucho better than the 800x600 I was doing
ealier. I went to bed with a happy heart.
This morning when I started up the machine, initially the display was doing
great, but after I had to reboot once...IT HAPPENED!!! The display was
there, resolutions & color depth et al....but the image wasn't focussing
properly. The blurring made it almost impossible to do any work with it,
and so I carted it over to the repair shop. Interesting the display is
otherwise stable (no shaking etc) & so are the colors...
I wonder if I really managed to achieve
"burn-your-moniter-by-playing-with-sync-and refresh-rates" ;-)
Any ideas??
