Dear members,
ILUG-Cal came into existence out of our interest and affection for the
Linux operating system. Since it not only exists in the cyberspace but also
has a physical existence, the activities of the LUG naturally involves
certain expenditures. Besides we also have to build up a shareable
inventory of resources that will be accessible to all members. All this
activities require funds. As a rule we don't have any annual subscription
fees, as we don't want to put any sort of entry barrier in place for
people, particularly interested students & like who may not be able to pay
a large annual susbscription.
Fund-wise ILUG-Cal is entirely dependent upon the voluntary contributions
of its members, and on its few sponsers. As of now, ILUG-Cal needs more
funds to make sure that the upcoming Linux-Interact '99 goes through
smoothly. (In my opinion, if we manage to pull off the event successfully
this year, getting sponsers for the next year's or any subsequent events &
more large scale planning may not be difficult to achieve, apart from
really snowballing the nascent Linux movement in Calcutta & WB).
So this is an appeal to all the members to come forward & contribute to the
ILUG-Cal kitty. There is no min/max range of values on what u can
contribute, since every single rupee that comes into the kitty counts. Many
of you had once come forward to fill in the requirements of the domain
registration..... I hope that ILUG-Cal gets a similar enthusiast response
from you once again. This appeal goes out to all, but most importantly to
all our new members, since we have almost doubled in strength since the
first fund raising drive was launched.
