SIR,

Finally I was able to configure the X server (X11R6 3.3.1) using RH6.0(upgraded from
5.2)
xf86config/and editing the XF86Config file.
The Video Card Selected is SiS 6326 AGP which gave me
SVGA Server.Further though I had 8MB of Ram it took only
standard 4096K . Though I had given the Option VideoRam 8192 in my XF86Config file.
Further the X server hangs with the mem VideoRam of 8192
but works ok with 4096 Why? & how to get the server access my 8MB of VRAM on the video
card.

I had also given a res of "640x480";"800x600"& "1024x768".
My Monitor has Hfreq 30-60 VFreq 50-120.and I am able to
get 256color &16 in 1024x768 in Win95& LINUX also. The background screens are black and
I cannot see the text
though I changed the window color characteristics from
control panel.Similarly I am unable to tune my screen through xvidtune as I am unable
to read the text though
I can open & close the windows. The windows when moved are taking ages to draw & the
old window marks remain & not being refreshed. looks a memory problem. How to deal?

On starting X I got the X running but the Desktop size is more than the
screen size in the 640x480. Though all the areas of Desktop is accessible as when the
mouse
scrolls the Desktop also moves with it. the GNOME/KDE also runs well with it. The
other resolutions are giving windows which are vertically OK but horizontally squeezed
and dispalced to the right. How do I correct it ? Does it require changing my mode
line's ?But
how toget over with the incomptiability of the resolution modes.

An early reply with be appreciated.

Thanking you
