1. I have found smbclient which is an ftp like client for access to
windows shares. However I am desperately looking for an nfs like client for
windows shares. Is there anything that gives this functionality ?
2.I am still unable to set up my Opti 931 isa pnp sound card. I have
installed isapnp tools and have modified the isapnp.conf file. so now the
sound card is initialised. I've looked at the
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/sound/Opti.
I have repartitioned my hard disk and will be trying again with a fuller
installation of linux ( I was running linux with X in only 170 mb of disk
space( using fvwm95 :) )
3. For samba configuration check out the man page for "swat". I've got
the machine visible on the network so far but have to set up the
permissions for accesssing as it gives a message " the user is not
authorised to log in from this station"
4. I believe that in redhat 6.0 the device cua0 has been replaced by ttyS0
so now ttys0 is used both to send and recieve. Before it was used only to
recieve... this is for the gentleman with the PPP problem (please correct me
if I am wrong.)
5. I have a pixelview combo tv card. Is there anyway to access the tv tuner
under linux ? would the software run under wine ? I guess this is one thing
that vmware cannot do.
