Dear Friends....

HELP!... i'm having a similar problem.... I'm running red hat 6.0
I've got a S3 Trio 3D/2X (1.00.29) card which according to Win 98 has a
86C362 chipset. The closet match in X86Setup is 86C365. Now for some odd
reason that only works with the VGA16 server. and another option which is
S3Trio3D suffers the same problem. I can only get 640x480 with 16 colors...
YUCK!.... i want atleast 800x600 with 24bpp...

any suggestions?....i tried running the SVGA server but it said no screen
modes were available... I'm a total linux newbie so keep the solutions
simple please..... My monitor is a samsung samtron 15 inch

Hsync=30-55 and Vsync=50-120

i managed to get 800x600 with one of the options in X86Setup but the display
was a bit corrupted (refresh rates haywire) and only 16 colours.... xvidtune
did nothing to solve the problem.... I AM AT A LOSS!... HELP!...

thanks
Prateek Sureka

What are the res you are getting from these at present? How better you can
go depends directly on how much worse you
are at present. (Off-the-cuff suggestion --> upgrade to RedHat 6.1 using the
PC Quest Nov. 99 CD... you will find much
better driver and configuration support).
