Not surprising, since 86C362 is not supported by XFree86 3.3.3.1 (which is what you
probably have got installed on the
system). ... The one you have chosen (86C365 is a S3 ViRGE chip and not of the S3 Trio
family). Installing XFree86
version 3.3.5 should answer you problems since according to the docs the chip is
supported. FYI, the XFree86 3.3.5 RPM
is available on the Nov. 99 PC-Quest CD.

xvidtune is not a panacea ... you *have* to put down the values you arrive at while
fine-tuning your display in your
xf86config file -- *manually* (many ppl often forget that they have to do this). If
manual editing of the xf86config is
not you cup of tea.... you could look at using "SAX"... a system config tool that
comes with the SuSE distro... Shanker
seems to swear by it in private (maybe becoz he doesn't want to be sneered and snorted
at by the DIY types on the list
??? ;-) *ducking_and_running* ;-)
In fact many of the current problem with various display cards will be solved once the
Xfree86 3.4 comes out (very soon
now)... those in a hurry can always grab the latest Xfree86 3.9.16 source and do a
compile + install (*not* suggested
to people with known history of cardiac problems or loose bowels ;)
