Have a look at the Beowolf def. - One does not go about creating MIMD
systems for fun unless you can show that the results justify it.
Using VmWare would create virtual machines with a homogenety which could not
be replicated anywhere else and one would be able to get useful results on
application performance viz distribution over  a loosely coupled MIMD
architecture  and then isolate the performance lag due to the Network( Try
it- the results give food for thought).
And just try doing it at home!( w/o Vmware- you have to contend with
expensive and timeconsuming problems wrt  unnecessary side issues card /
cable/ machine etc.)
Once a rationale has been shown with indicative results, going ahead makes
sense- otherwise we might as well stay with transputers( But that is a
different story).
