Dear All,
I have a major problem trying to add a printer to the linux
(RedHat 6.2) system. I have tried to add several different
printers (all HP) and as soon as I run the printtool I get
/dev/lp0, /dev/lp1, /dev/lp2 not detected. End of story.
I have upgraded lpr to 50.4 (most recent at RedHat) and I have
also added the following three lines to /etc/conf.modules
(at the advice of someone who claimed this worked for him)
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options lp io=0x378 irq=5
post-install parport /sbin/modprobe parport_pc
and it still doesn't recognise the printer. What else can I do?
Also, since commercials are excluded from this list (a good idea)
where would I advertise if I wanted, say, a hands-on consultant
on a contract basis? Would it be a good idea to set up a website
for advertising (and soliciting) linux related services?
Finally, when and where is the proposed meeting?
