Dear Mr. Kanjilal,
There is no exact point where the computer hangs. It
hanged two or three times while transferring the
install image to the hard drive. Mainly it hangs while
installing the packages(Where the progress bar stops
and the hdd led and cd led does not blink ).The CD
drive gets very hot and eventually stops
functioning(works fine while watching movies or
copying whole cds under windows). In the text mode of
installation it shows that the total time required to
be about one and a half hour. Assuming problems with
my cd drive I have changed with my friend�s ..but the
results where no better.
While booting for installation from the cd the
following lines scrolls up

Can it be for the swap partion size ? But then I have
kept it big enough �128 MB�. The installation discs
are also not corrupted (I�ve installed from the same
disc in another machine). I am still unable to figure
out the problem.
