Hello,

At last I got hold of the Red Hat Linux Installation
CD 1 & 2 but I can not install. The last time was the
14 th time I tried to install Linux but in vein. Every
time the machine hanged while installing or while
transferring the install image to the hard drive.
Assuming an unsupported bios I changed the Hard disc
and cdrom to primary master and slave (which
previously was primary and secondary masters ) but all
these experiments where of no use. I even tried to
install from my hdd. This required a cd iso image. I
made an image of the cd with Easy Cd Creator the size
of the image of the first cd image was 643 MB contrary
to a size of 641 MB as in the site of Red Hat any way
I was unsuccessful.
Please help
My machine had a previous installation of Red Hat
Linux 6.2 which showed no inconsistency while loading
or running.

The Machine configurations are:

Processor: AMD K6 III 400
Bus speed : 100 Mhz
Motherboard: ASUS (Alladin5 P5A-B)
Hdd : Seagate 13 GB with 8 GB in windows c: 4GB d: 4
GB
5 GB in the linux partion broken down as
                        128 MB of swap partition.
                        7MB mouted as boot partition
                        The rest mounted on /
Ram :128 MB
Graphics card: ASUS Riva TNT 2 16 MB
CD Rom Drive: Samsung CD-ROM SC 152B

Subhadeep Panda.

N.B. While I carried on with this fiasco I tried to
resize some of my partitions with partition magic. And

I discovered that all the data in the d: has been
transformed in to a file of size 3.26 GB. I ran scan
disc and thousands of .chk files where created. Are
these data recoverable.
