dear mr. banerjee, you don't need to re-load complete distro-s just because kmail is not working. it's probably a matter of a few settings that were incorrectly set or something. you can try opening kmail -> settings -> configure kmail -> network and see whether the pop (incoming) and smtp (outgoing) server addresses are set correctly. the values for an yahoo account (since you have an yahoo address) are:
pop.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com respectively. also, when using an yahoo account with kmail or any other pop3 client, you must first check for new mail, and then send from the outbox. you must send within a minute or so of checking for new mail, before your pop authentication expires. this policy has been adopted by yahoo to stop non-members from using their smtp servers. also, open kmail -> settings -> configure kamil -> identity and see whether the "email address" field has been correctly set to your yahoo id. yahoo will not accept outgoing mail from a client unless it finds a yahoo mail id in this field. these are two common problems people have with mail clients. or if you aren't satisfied with kmail, try something else like evolution or balsa or sylpheed. linux isn't windows, and it doesn't need to be reinstalled every two months. only drastic problems call for that kind of drastic measure. - t. -- War is God's way of teaching Americans geography.
