AFAIK, allmost all the areas under the Kolkata Telecom District has been
covered by towers using Code Division Multiple Access, which lets you use a
WLL handheld phone, which is pretty much operational in Kolkata but it's
difficult to get interface accesories for that, if you want it to connect to
your lappy.

As I said, the HHT or the Hand Held Terminals are already operational in
Kolkata, thus they have a pretty good network using CDMA's powerful tower
technologies.
