well chayan, i've shorted down my problems into 2 (may be) points. i need more rnds to find out the real solution. as i said before i keep doing my partitions on the fly. whenever i need some place i create partition. after utilising it i generally change those partions into unpartioned space. to short out my current problem i performed 2 trickes at a time. previously my win2k partition was on hda1 and ext2/3 was on hda2. i just changed it and at i forced my lilo to support lba32 mode. and some how it started working. to short out the real solution i've to simulate the whole process one by one. but right now i dare to do it 'cause am burning my backups into cds. as soon as i finsh i'll check that out. today i've fried my new kernel for p-4 its working fine but i need more tests before replacing my old one. i've lots of rnds to do on this new hardware platform with rh7.2, solaris and win2k (though i use win2k for Quake-III only). so lets see what more can i do.

regards
