Dear Kaushik, My friend Suvro is basically scolar in Bengali language, that is why I planned to work on this project as I am neither a programmer nor a linguist, but only Bengali language enthusiast.
But I feel your suggestions are in the right direction. XML will the best sestem to work with. Secondly, it seems you know some one who already has collection of words and spell check. We can start from there. Actually we should start form a reliable dictionary. I use Progressive English-bangla dictionary. If any one can refer a better dictionary, that will be a great help. For the synonyms we can refer to Ashok Mukhopadhays Samarthokosh. These two should be exhaustive enough to have a workable dictionary. I like the format you have suggested: > translate ________ [go] > synonyms _________ [go] > look for ________ [go] > [browse dictionary] > [contribute] If we can find any one among the members to set up this system, will be great, otherwise we can look for support from outside. As it is a voluntary work, it will be difficult to plan the time line, but we should have a tentative date for certain number of words. Say 500 words per month!!
