Absolutely agree with Mr. Guha. Even if you don't know
any of these languages, even if you're totally
new to programming, In my opinion  Perl is one of the
easiest languages to begin programming with, Once you
start learning you will like the Perl motto `There's
more than one way to do it'. You could start with this
site
learn.perl.org.
It's specifically aimed for beginners. You will find a
huge amount of information about perl including
recommended books for newbies. 
Also visit the the main site www.perl.com. You will
find some fantastic artice/tutorials dealing with
different aspects of perl.
