Actually I have use *script based authentication* to log in automatically as
mentioned in the help file . But it hooked up the vsnl and then asked for
the (ogin:). though the login name and password is present in the script
tab.I have recheckd it several times but the results are the same. Will u
please tell me the difference between script based and pap/chap ? How to
configure the pap/chap for automatic login ?
thanks .
unfortunately for us vsnl had some servers asking for 'login:' and others for 'username:'. Since the srevers were set-up for load-sharing, one could not predict which string one would receieve - logging in became a matter of luck.

If you are consistantly failing to login you may be in luck! I believe that kppp had a "View Log" or some such button. use it to look at what the servers are actually sending you - 'login:' or 'username:' - and adjust your script accordingly.

though, if vsnl uses pap/chap that is the better alternative.
