Dear Raja, yes, I have compiled my kernel a no. of times. I have come to know about kernelld when reading the doc files in RH7.1. But I didn't know about Kmod. Thanks for the information. By the way , is kmod activated in RH8.0 ? or I need to compile the kernel to activate it. How can I test whether kernelld or kmod is activated ?
Since we are discussing about compiling the kernel, I like to ask one question more. It has been decided in RH that the next generation kernel compiling tool will be some thing different, flexible and sophisticated. (rather than xconfig, make clean, make modules............etc.). Do u know any thing about this ? Please let me know. thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: Raja Guha <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, October 09, 2002 7:13 AM Subject: Re: [ilug-cal] kernelld > JOY wrote: > > Hi there , > > have u ever tried compiling kernel with kernelld support ? > > please inform me. i need some guide lines. > > thanks. > > excerpt from close to the top of 2.4.4 Documentation/modules.txt file: > > * * * NOTE * * * > The kernel has been changed to remove kerneld support and use > the new kmod support.
