This is in response to pksharma's reply to sdg.

Sharmaji:

Please understand that "Open" and "Free" are only in disagreement on a single issue while contributing enourmously towards their common goals.

Anyone who advocates Open Source cannot but acknowledge the MASSIVE contributions of RMS and the FSF. Most should even be able to appreciate his GPL(Gnu Public License) (I certainly do.) Most major open sourced software as well as the Linux kernel itself are published under GPL or a equivalent license.

I very seriously doubt that Mr. Hari of OnTrack is actively opposed to fsf. This is not a major issue - especially from the point of view of Open Source proponents.

Like yourself, open source is very "postmodern". It never turns down good code! - even from those who disagree with them! It is quite shameless in this.

In reply to my specific queries sdg has shown enough flexibility for any of us to work with him without ANY reservations. He would be an invaluable member if he can contribute his time.

We should have no reservations about allowing him to express his own point-of-view to visitors without any problems from Ontrack or any other sponsor(but we can specifically verify if needed).

Being able to persuade the bewildered visitor, who has heard neither of "open source" nor of "free" let alone of "Open Source" or of "Free", is of course, another matter altogether . . . ;)

sdg, if you are able to attend, I think all of us will be more than glad to have you with us.

I have taken the liberty of changing the Subject of this thread.

see you all on Sunday.
