Hi,
i finally shifted to mandrake 9.0..tried redhat 8.0...always used
RH but unfortunately it failed take my vote for it...although i rate
its gui as the best available but thats not the only feature of linux atleast.there is no "Kpackage" so it will give you hell lot of trouble..while mandrake uses "Alsa"(advanced sound architecture) by default....redhat dont have it so you have to download it and install...but in the process X gave me trouble ....so i had to remove it (the /etc/modules.conf config ) and restore the original one....there is no xine..and the worst of all the menus are terrible .... it takes long to get settled with RH menu....but when you do so you will feel uncomfortable with menus in other disto....the mozilla version is not upto date....there is not shortcut to console by dafault thats bad....the "XCDRoast" is not the intended as its not stable....so give a good look before burining cds! i hoped RH should have tested the versions as giving unstable/broken ones wont help....one may feel i am very much critical about RH ..but i have no other option as its bad to see your favourite distro is doing bad...

so installed mandrake....running cool....alsa...perfect....
watch out the table tennis game..i loved it ...

got few small problems ...please offer help-

a. while in GDM i preferred graphical greetings it does not do that
i get standard greetings....any solutions?.

b. more simpler....i was looking for servies to stop and initiate
few servies while my system boots up...but i am not getting where is it?..kinda funny but i need it.....help me out.

what you ppl think,
i guess i will go for debian next....
saw it in siddarthada's machine looked good...
and 8 cds i cant wait
bye
anindya
