I also think it misses the point. When you get a full set of CD's, you get all the source code. One of the features of Free/Libre and Open Source Software is that you are *not* dependant on some vendor for support, but can hire it outside. As long as there is a third-party willing to support the software, the software doesn't come to an end-of-life. I don't even know what end-of-life means in a FLOSS context. If you want to get support for RedHat 4.x, and want to pay for it, you can do so. If you want to get support for Windows 95, and want to pay for it...well...too bad.
