Thanks I am using RHL 8.0 distro on Intel 845GLLY motherboard built in video and 82810 chipset based AC97 Audio.
System is detecting audio as AC97810 Audio but during starting of X it is telling /dev/dsp not found. I have used your tricks but not worked. (I have logged in text mode as root, then used insmod sound to load sound drivers and logged in X as root, then after disabling art server at boot using controlcenter->sound I have logged out. Then I have tried using ordinary user in X still sound not works). Please help me. ************** Another problem was found in the same chipset 845GLLY, when I am using KDE and opening terminal window, display behavs in such a way that some extra space is always displayed betwwen all character I have type, but in GNOME it is not happening, i.e. if I type vi myfile then in KDE it looks like [EMAIL PROTECTED] $ v i m y f i l e and in vi editor it is totally impossible to edit, but in gnme [EMAIL PROTECTED] vi myfile, also vi is working fine. As per my opinion display driver is of, otherwise it was not worked in gnome, some termcap problem is occuring in KDE. Anybody in ilug-cal may help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kaushik Ghose" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Sumit Ranjan Das" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, March 14, 2003 12:28 AM Subject: Re: Sound using 810 > Hey, > then we can help each other directly ! > anyway, I'm presently trying to get lm_sensors to work. > have you tried to install this ? > any luck ? > > Whats your hardware ? > > I have an Athlon 2100 on an ASUS A7N266-VM > > thanks > -kg > > On Fri, 14 Mar 2003, Sumit Ranjan Das wrote: > > > Thanks, I am using RHL 8.0 > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Kaushik Ghose" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > To: "Sumit Ranjan Das" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2003 11:12 PM > > Subject: Re: Sound using 810 > > > > > > > Hi, > > > well I still need to tweak my system and that may not be the main reason > > > for sound working but basically you loginto kde as root (so either you > > > loginto root and start x, or if you are already in runlevel 5, you just > > > login as root) > > > > > > then you goto control center->click video/sound->click sound server and > > > make sure arts is disabled > > > > > > which distro are you using > > > > > > -kg > > > > > > On Thu, 13 Mar 2003, Sumit Ranjan Das wrote: > > > > > > > Could you tell me how you disable roots arts as you told in ilug mailing > > list ? > > > > > > > > SUmit > > > > Burdwan > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
