In this case your root password is 'avik' or whatever
you have given after the word IDENTIFIED BY followd by
quotation. Remember, don't use  the root password for
your linux root login account, because that is not the
same as mysql root login.
If this still gives you problem then you must have
made some mess with your grants table. For that you
have to flush out all the privileges and set the
password again.
