And the linux machine from where i want to "mount" a windows shared network drive do not have X windows installed and do not have any other place left to install X server.

Depends on what kind of filesystem the server is using
for the sharable network drive
its a windows98 box, using fat32

The option of the
mount command and client setup(optinal) might vary
depending on that one. If it's smbfs (samba), then
there are some gui available which makes it easier to
access the share drive. Try searching for
linneighbourhood,komba in google.


If it's nfs(network export) then use command line
mount for access. For nfs client setup visit
nfs.sourceforge.net
