Dear Dr. Mitra, Quoting Mandar Mitra <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

AFAIK, prices start from 1800/- onwards, but its probably prudent to stay away from the entry-level ones. I still swear by my old 12/8/32 HP internal ATAPI CD-RW, not a single coaster in the last 3.5 years I have had it. Unfortunately HP stopped making CD-RWs a long time back! :-( At present ASUS's CD-RWs would get my vote for their quality, even though they cost about a couple of hundred rupees more than their competitors. The ones from Samsung/LG/Frontech etc. are cheaper, and seems to work for many people. > In case it's relevant: my machine is a PII/333/128MB, and I've > stayed with RH 7.3 (and am much happier than most of my colleagues > who run Windows on their P4 XYZ GHz machines). This could be old news to you, but with kernel 2.6.x series CD-writing on Linux no longer requires the use of IDE-SCSI emulation... :) hth --indra. ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
