The internal ATAPI CD-RW drives are quite cheap these days. AFAIK, prices start
from 1800/- onwards, but its probably prudent to stay away from the entry-level
ones. I still swear by my old 12/8/32 HP internal ATAPI CD-RW, not a single
coaster in the last 3.5 years I have had it. Unfortunately HP stopped making
CD-RWs a long time back! :-(

At present ASUS's CD-RWs would get my vote for their quality, even though they
cost about a couple of hundred rupees more than their competitors. The ones from
Samsung/LG/Frontech etc. are cheaper, and seems to work for many people.

This could be old news to you, but with kernel 2.6.x series CD-writing on Linux
no longer requires the use of IDE-SCSI emulation... :)
