[From Footnotes - the GNOME news site]
Fluendo Fluendo has unveiled the first version of its streaming media server called Flumotion. This streaming media server is the same that was used to stream GUADEC in Kristiansand this year and also the Akademy KDE conference in Stuttgart. The server supports streaming in Ogg Theora, Ogg Vorbis and Ogg Speex in addition to archiving your streams to disk. You configure through an easy to use GTK+ based wizard and there is also a GTK+ based administration interface for the server. This is a first alpha release so there are some rough spots here and there, but you should be able to get the basic system up and streaming relativly easy. You find more information on the Fluendo homepage (http://www.fluendo.com/). Click on Download to grab the tarball. There is also a issue tracker available from the 'Resources' page where you can see current known issues and report your own. == Some screenshots at http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/~uraeus/fluwiz1.png http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/~uraeus/fluwiz2.png http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/~uraeus/fluwiz3.png http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/~uraeus/flu4.png http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/~uraeus/teststream.png However, I found the README files to be really funny: ************************************************************************* Flumotion - your streaming media server WHAT IT IS ---------- Flumotion is a streaming media server based on GStreamer and Twisted. This is the first public release of Flumotion. It will probably still contain bugs, be difficult to install (since you need recent dependencies), and cause you some headaches. On the other hand, when it works and you are capturing your Firewire camera on one machine, encoding to Theora on a second (with an overlay, of course), encoding the audio to Vorbis on a third, muxing to Ogg on a fourth, and then streaming both audio and video from a fifth, audio only from a sixth, video only from a seventh, and capturing all three streams to disk from an eigth, you feel very good about yourself. And you also have too many computers. ************************************************************************** -enjoy- Sayamindu PS: They are also working on a java applet player - so that you can watch the streams without having a media player installed in your system. http://www.fluendo.com/products.php?product=applet There is a live stream of their office at http://mirror.fluendo.com/cortado/ - but right now it shows nothing (I think they are not working during the night :p) -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
