Hello Friends I purchased a Sony DDU1622 dvd-rom, and installed it in my system. SuSE 8.2, kernel 2.4. Everything worked fine. I tried with my system boot CDS and some other CDs too. Later, i discovered that none of the home-burnt CDs are working on the drive. Neither burnt on my machine, nor on Tathagata's machine, i have a lot of them. The SuSE CD-s are working, because Arijit burnt them on industrial burner. Then i went to MSWindows. There, the same problem is happening, though, with home-burnt audio and video CD-s, in MS-Windows, the drive can recognize them, what it cant in SuSE. But industrially produced audio and video CDs are working fine on both MSW and SuSE.

All my home-burnt CDs (and Tathagata's, as far as i know) are burnt with cdrecord, and the images either copied or made with mkisofs. With the package came the MS-Windows driver CD. I have not installed it yet. Is it some HW problem? Or, should i try some other updated driver from some other distro. This SuSE 8.2 is pretty old. Around three years now. dipankar das -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line. FAQ: http://www.ilug-cal.org/node.php?id=3
