I used firefox on both platforms. but opera is still faster. It comes with lots of features like INBUILD E-Mail client and mouse gestures also. Only drawback is opera's ad-bar.but overall really faster that other browsers (except text mode browsers like lynx or links). still waiting for solution about running gmail on opera.

Why not using Mozilla Firefox, it rocks both in Windows and Linux, includes tabbed browser and supported by gmail.
