hello anirban and other members

1. soumyadip was to do things as requested by dr. nagarjun
(soumyadip, please post the details if i miss things out)
 inter alia :
a) there SHOULD be people from FSF present at the meeting
with IT dept. Tathagata's marriage related inability to be able
to do what needs to be done was explained to dr.N and he is
aware of it, appreciates the 'fortunate' event of marriage as ok ;-)
b) The other member's 'inability' for doing this was also accepted
c) Some other member's presence from the FSF side was suggested
and soumya did try to locate someone from FSF who was a
    suitable alternative
d) Presence of Ilug-Cal at the IT Dept's meeting was also disscussed
and it's an okay thing. Who could go ? In the absence of indra, sdg,
sougata's choice was apparently the one that could be implemented
e) Any other person could chip in also
f) Compass President's being present at the IT Dept Mtg was also
discussed, felt to be proper, and is in place. Compass president has
confirmed that he will be there.
g) Ankur Bangla initiative was also discussed. Several live CD's were
requested by Dr.N. Till now, sougata has one. I have an 'autographed'
one, the early alpha one, which i am told is best not 'lost' by giving
for 'demo'. If anyone else has readily availble, please inform or call
saugata
h) Visiting RMS by GNU/FSF/others was discussed. Since RMS is a state
guest now, security by govt., protocol etc became involved. Moreover,
he is travelling 200 days a year and lecturing more than that number. So
in defernce to his age, physical strain, meeting him at the guest house
on
the day of arrival was fair not to be done as was suggested by dr.N. We
too felt that this is fair and proper. To not put too much strain on
RMS.
His arrival was on 3rd evening. And rest was desirable for the hectic
    meeting/lecture/travel to kharagpur/lecutre/return/flying to chennai
program
i) Bringing RMS to BF was not in the plan by the IT Dept. A meeting in the
IT Dept., followed by lunch and a talk by RMS thereafter filled up 4th
Feb.
However, if it COULD be done, then a few fans/friends COULD meet him
at the IT Dept's location on Camac St (opp. pantaloons in the new
building)
This would need contacting MD, Webel who is co-ordinating. Now we have
the name of another madam who can be contacted too. Its going to be a
very
short notice now. Not possible to organize a large contingent to see him
there. When to inform and how to inform at this late hour being the
reason
j) Not many people responded to efforts to plan for a group meeting (due to
valid reasons of insufficient information on who is co-ordinating, thier
contact numbers, etc. Every person involved tried within his means. But
its
known now, that a clear plan could not be put in place)
k) Dr. N is scheduled to come to compass office at the crossing of theatre
road
and camac street where compass president, saugata, soumyadip, me, and
any
other person desirous can come. Its on the 1st floor of the building
where the
    RAJ hotel was located)
l) RMS will NOT be coming to compass office.
m) Saugata, Compass Prez, myself MAY be accompanying Dr.N to the meeting
if Dr. N is able to get okay from the IT Dept for this. This is also a
touch and
go thing. Should happen. Its not sure even now. We'll see tomorrow early
    morning.
n) Suggestions, participation in the meeting with Dr.N are welcome. Please
respond
    and inform

..piI

(BF2005 is very near the IT Dept building .. so those who would like to,
please feel free to contact me, saugata, soumyadip (if he comes), compass
office, dr.N or any other person too. Its an open meeting at Compass
office.
The more the numbers, the better it is as per Dr.N .. to get a first hand
feel )
