You need to set some permissions for samba.

Open samba (under system menu [kde]).

Click on preferences - > server settings

Set your workgroup

If using a domain (on windows ) then click on security,

Authentication mode - domain
Authentication server - server.

Restart samba

Subject: [ilug-cal] Samba/Network Sharing Problem

Hi All,

I've installed FC2 (also tried with RHEL 4 Beta2 ) and
configured samba . I can see all PCs in my domain and
also from other domains in my LAN. But the problem is
whenever I try to access the PCs (shared files) its
giving an error :

You do not have the permissions necessary to view the
contents of "Windows Network:<PC Name>" .

This is hapenning for all Computers.
But I can access a Win'98 shared PC.
I tried to search for solutions on the net but only
ended in finding mails asking for help for the same
error. Some sites say that there is a "Add Network
Place" option under "Computer" on Desktop but I
couldn't find any such option.

If anybody faced similar problems and have any
solution plz. help me.
