> What is the phone number ? > > with Regards, > ASHWIN it seems that most people are not able to or are not wanting to be at sunday meetings till compass2005 (march 11th) so till some critical mass is perceived .. there is just no point in 'forcing' meetings at the last compass exec. comm. meeting it was decided that there WILL be a seminar hall at the venue the latest plan puts the hall in one corner at the back of the 3rd hangar this too might be dropped if stall space demand gobbles up the space raju mathur has consented to come .. compass has confirmed taking care of his travel and staying arrangements (but there is no 'charging' by raju mathur .. so no charging compass and then giving ilug-cal the stalls like atul did two years back) for the info, on being questioned about whether ilug participation is of any use, i had to reming the exec. comm. that this WAS the star of the show there were questions of 'filling up chairs' at linux meets .. to which i informed them that we had good attendance in the park hotel banquet halls all the days of atul's presentation, indra's presentation, and reasonable presence when ilug members gave talks in the mini hall at sangam s/w show venue .. given the poor info in compass ads at that time i also had to point out the info in compass2004 for ankur bangla and the open house q&a with international experts from usa, australia, bangalore, and on the stage was even worse .. so the attendence was far below what could be i also have put across that the first batch of 'developer' graduates will hit the market this year from WBUT, and other tech colleges/institutes/universities i have put in the query of 'what if the WBUT and other institutes, etc want a presence and poster spaces' .. they need to tell the general population about the options in InfoTech courses etc .. and since compass is mentioning "supported by govt. of w.bengal" on its compass2005 masalaa .. and since compass MUST have a social citizen role (it does do advising/interacting with govt of w.b. on infotech things) .. which should normally include co-operating/ordinating with academicia from our side, speakers are still shying .. all those who want to speak should send in their info to saugata (who is co-ordinator for expos) charges : flat 30,000/- for a one hour talk .. to be paid by those who want to give talks .. this is mainly targetted for those who want to launch their products .. their target audience is their 'work' .. not compass's work i have suggested zero cost for those who are giving talks for the benefit of the public .. it has been kept in mind .. if slots are available (not taken up by those 'selling' their things), then this will come into place i have suggested also that paying to compass for giving talks by business launch talkers is right .. they have a profit motive .. but getting paid by compass for giving talks by non-business people for the benefit of business visitiors (10am to 2pm) is right too ! same will apply for after business hours too .. for those wanting to sell products/services .. but for people giving talks to the genral public .. maybe a social service by the 'talkers' .. so they may not insist on asking for payment .. like indra did at compass2003 .. but then atul did talk during that 'after business hour' thing .. and got paid (as stalls ;-D for ilug-cal) too ! suggestions welcome .. speakers .. speak up .. before it is tooo late to do this right (read well announced in ads) this time ! ..pi I -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
