I am looking for a light weight desktop for linux as KDE & GNOME make my system very slow. now there are some options like blackbox, matchbox, openbox etc. I can't understand which one provides a good modern interface (though being light-weight). could anyone pls suggest ?
One way of going about the problem would be to define in terms of system parameters (and benchmarks) what exactly you are looking for.
Since you do say that KDE & GNOME are ones who make your system slow, have you taken a look at the latest XFCE (www.xfce.org) ? Fluxbox and blackbox etc are good alternatives. But then again *a good modern interface* is too broad a criteria to serve as a final decision maker.
In fact, one would ask you to define and elaborate that phrase.
